This spring, Sergio Tacchini taps hip hop artist and style innovator A$AP Nast as part of its Spring/Summer 2021 campaign. Documenting a day in the life with the musician, the campaign highlights key SS21 pieces worn by Nast at his Los Angeles home and during a tennis lesson at the famous Arthur Ashe Courts in Rancho Cienega Park, where Venus and Serena Williams trained as youths. Joined by veteran coach and tennis activist Tommy Lee—who helped found the L.A.-based tennis center in the ‘70s—the campaign is captured by renowned photographer Sandy Kim.
Growing up in Harlem, New York City, A$AP Nast came up in the epicenter of East Coast hip hop and street culture, where he developed a unique take on fashion by mixing high-end and street styles. A member of A$AP Mob, Nast’s musical interests extend into art, fashion, film, and the like, contributing to his eclectic style. Nast’s organic ability to bridge diverse cultures across generations and geographies make him an ideal personality to exemplify the energy and attitude of the Sergio Tacchini brand.
For SS21, Sergio Tacchini reestablishes its foundations in heritage tennis and elevated sportswear by building on quintessential pieces from the brand’s rich archives. True Tacchini classics like the Young Line Pro, Orion, Damarindo, and Dallas designs—popularized by the brand’s champion tennis players and adopted by British ‘Casuals’ culture in the ‘80s—are reinterpreted for today’s sensibilities and designed for life on and off the court. Spring-ready fabrics in streamlined fits feature the iconic ‘ST’ monogram logo against bold color-blocking and sporty stripes, while colorful spring hues complement Tacchini’s signature navy, white, and red palette.
Highlights of the season include the ‘Ciudad’ capsule—containing a tracksuit, shorts, and button-up in premium Crepe de Chine satin—featuring a hand-painted all-over print depicting Monte Carlo, in which the brand has sponsored prestigious tennis tournaments for over a decade. A Melbourne-inspired dazzle-camo capsule nods to the first tournament of the 2021 tennis season. And rounding out the collection is the Rainier Tracksuit in crinkle nylon, harking back to the acclaimed ‘shell suits’ embraced by hip hop’s golden age and woven throughout Tacchini’s legacy.
